Mitchell Takes Lead for Lady Bears Basketball

Former Barclay College men’s basketball player Marcus Mitchell enters his first year as head coach of the Lady Bears. He served as an assistant for the Lady Bears the last two years and then took on the challenge of replacing two celebrated Barclay College coaches in Ryan Kendall and Brad Lingafelter.

With just one player on the roster from a semester ago, the Lady Bears first daunting task was to field a team. Regardless of their limited numbers, the Lady Bears were dominant in their season opener under Mitchell. Since then they have battled some key injuries and some tough opponents. They look to heal up before the arduous Midwest Christian College Conference and National Christian College Athletic Association Southwest Region schedule heats up in January.

At the midway point of the season, Mitchell concluded,”We will need to cut down on our turnovers and play Lady Bears basketball four quarters.”

The Lady Bears will be back in action January 13th when they travel to Ankeny, Iowa to take on MCCC foe Faith Baptist Bible College.
