Newby Receives MCCC First Team Honors

Last Friday night four Barclay College men’s soccer players were recognized for their accomplishments in Midwest Christian College Conference play. Players were recognized at the MCCC soccer tournament hosted by Central Christian College of the Bible in Mobery, Mo.

During a pause in the weekend action, junior Brenton Newby (Wichita, Kans.) was the lone representative on the first team. Newby shored up the defense for the Bears this year with his relentless pursuit of the ball on the back line. In addition, defensive sophomore Ben Priebe (Rose Hill, Kans.) and freshman forward Garrett Zuercher (Newton, Kans.) were given second team honors. Freshman Ryan Adams (Newton, Kans.) received honorable mention for his efforts as the goalkeeper.

All four will be in action this up coming weekend when they travel to Sprinfield, Mo. to take on Southwest Region opponent Baptist Bible College on Friday at 4:00 pm. The Bears were able to beat the Patriots earlier in the season in a close contest. Then on Saturday, the Bears will take on Ecclesia College in Springdale, Ark.
