2020-21 Record:<\/strong>\u00a016-7, 10-1\u00a0MCCC Conference<\/p>\n

Midwest Christian College Conference Champions 2020-21<\/em><\/p>\n

2020-21 MCCC Finish:<\/strong>\u00a0First place with a .909 winning percentage, ahead of second place Emmaus Bible College (.750), and third place Ozark Christian College (.700).<\/p>\n

Final 2020-21 NCCAA Ranking:<\/strong>\u00a0#6<\/p>\n

Regular Season: <\/strong>The Lady Bears lost their first 2 games of the season last year, against NAIA schools McPherson College (16-9) and Sterling College (30-1). They went on to win 13 games in a row and finished the regular season at 14-3 overall.<\/p>\n

Champions: <\/strong>A strong regular season and 10-1 conference record earned the Lady Bears their first conference title in history. Winning the title was the first step in the building process for new coach, Scott Post. \u201cWe hope to win more rings in the future. It was an awesome experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Key Departures:<\/strong>\u00a0The Lady Bears lose 3 starters from a championship team, Kayleigh Mannering, Emmary Williams, and Darian Carr.<\/p>\n

Key Returners:<\/strong>\u00a0Mauri Scales (sr) is a 2-year starter and 5th<\/sup> year senior.\u00a0Mauri played the post position last year but will most likely be a forward and wing this season.\u00a0She averaged 6.95 ppg and 6.73 rebounds.\u00a0Mauri is an elite athlete who runs the floor well.\u00a0She is improving still, and we expect her to surpass her 2019-20 season at Barclay when she averaged over 9 ppg and over 7 rebounds. She is a true leader who brings a lot to the table and can play most positions on the floor.<\/p>\n

Jamia Jackson (jr) returns to bring her scoring touch to the team. Jamia is a 2 time All-American who averaged 17.32 ppg last season.\u00a0Jamia reached the 800-point club for her career last year. Really good considering the cancellation of games due to Covid and a smaller schedule in her freshman year. Jamia is a junior this year and only needs 199 points to join the 1000-point club and still has a shot at all of the scoring records for Barclay College. When Jamia is clicking the team is usually clicking as well. The bar is set very high for her, but she has the ability to surpass anything she has done to this point.<\/p>\n

Ryanisha Fleming (jr) returns after sitting out a season from her junior college transfer to Barclay. (Kaskaskia College) She averaged 2.5 assists per game at Kaskaskia and almost 5 ppg.\u00a0She is a strong defender and athletic.<\/p>\n

Zyra Castro (soph) averaged 5.4 ppg and 4.45 rebounds per game last season.\u00a0She was great off the bench and played with a toughness that is needed.<\/p>\n

Kia Robertson (soph) is a top-level athlete who plays on the volleyball team as well as basketball.\u00a0She averaged 3 points and 3 rebounds per game and is a lock down defender.<\/p>\n

Tyvi Williams (soph) should be eligible in January and her addition is very exciting. Tyvi played in only 2 games last season, but her presence is felt on the court with her ability to get steals and fast break layups. She is very fast and anticipates passes well to go the other way.<\/p>\n

Key Additions<\/strong>: This list is very long due to an excellent recruiting season. It starts with a transfer point guard from within the conference.<\/p>\n

Kim Fowler was the 2nd<\/sup> team point guard on the MCCC All-Conference team last season for Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri.\u00a0She averaged 10.44 ppg, 6.85 assists, and 4.37 rebounds.\u00a0Kim also had 64 steals for 9th<\/sup> in the country. She is an all-around player who loves the game and plays with passion.<\/p>\n

Juco transfer Kitumaini Croyance (call her \u201cCroyance\u201d) is a 6\u20192\u201d post from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. She has an amazing story of survival and is a warrior at heart. Her dad is a pastor and member of the military in the Congo.\u00a0Coryance comes to us from Coach Antwain Scales at Garden City Community College. The sky is the limit for her in the NCCAA and everyone is pulling for her and ready to see what she accomplishes.\u00a0She is a top-level athlete and one of the strongest physical players you will find.\u00a0She also loves Jesus and is a strong Christian.<\/p>\n

Another very solid juco transfer comes from Otero Junior College in Colorado.\u00a0She is Jalen Davis.\u00a0Jalen is a combo guard and has an excellent skill set and is a great shooter.\u00a0Jalen\u2019s sister was a starter at Colorado State University and high-level athleticism runs in the family.\u00a0She is a great student and wonderful person who fits in well with the Barclay College campus environment.\u00a0Everyone loves Jalen and she competes on a very high level.<\/p>\n

Shoshuna Jones is a transfer from Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College in Minnesota. Shoshuna is from New Mexico and is excited to be at Barclay College.\u00a0She is a great person who has high goals.<\/p>\n

The remaining new additions are all freshmen. We are very excited about this class.\u00a0It is a very balanced class with size and skill.\u00a0Here are the freshmen in alphabetical order:<\/p>\n

Marissa Camarce is from San Antonio Texas and won a state championship in small Christian school basketball as a junior.\u00a0She is a shooting guard and plays with a high motor.\u00a0Marissa loves God and has a heart for people.\u00a0She is a big asset to Barclay College.<\/p>\n

Kandis Hall is another high-level athlete with huge potential on the court. She came from large school basketball in El Paso, Texas and is a strong kid who runs the floor well.<\/p>\n

Jazzy Kettles is a 6\u20192\u201d post player who also plays volleyball.\u00a0Jazzy was recruited for basketball out of San Diego California and led the state in rebounding and blocked shots.\u00a0We are excited to see what she brings to the table over the next 4 years.<\/p>\n

Vivian Muniz comes to Barclay from Puerto Rico.\u00a0She is a 5\u20197\u201d wing who has a deadly shot from 3.\u00a0As she gains confidence, we look for her to help the program.\u00a0She is another person that fits in well to the Barclay College system on the school level.<\/p>\n

Tierra Prince is a very strong athlete who has an amazing motor and never stops.\u00a0She is a defender deluxe and is great at attacking basket and pushing the ball up the floor.\u00a0She plays with attitude but has fun on the court and has a good skill set.\u00a0Tierra is from Houston Texas.<\/p>\n

Viviana Rios is a very skilled 5\u20199\u201d wing who can shoot and attack basket. She is an all-around player with unlimited potential. She suffered a nasty ankle sprain but is getting healthier daily and we expect her to be ready for the season. She is another one of those \u201cnon-stop\u201d type players who is very smooth on the court. Big things should be ahead for her.<\/p>\n

Kate Semeniuk is from Russia and played a year of basketball at one of the highest ranked prep schools in the United States last season. (Arizona) She is a 6\u2019 forward who can handle the ball and run the floor. She is an amazing talent with no limit to what she can achieve.\u00a0Kate is very happy to be in the United States and always has a smile on her face. Look for big things from her.<\/p>\n

Sam Stockton is a 6\u20191\u201d post player from Estrella Foothills High School in Arizona.\u00a0She is a very strong athlete who maintains her floor space. She has been held back by a knee injury in the preseason, but she is determined to be a major contributor to the program, if not this year, in the future. It all depends upon her medical situation with the knee. We are praying for the best.\u00a0She loves the game and is already a \u201cBarclay person\u201d!<\/p>\n

Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Scott Post is in year 2 as the head coach for the Lady Bears. (16-7) Coach Post had very good success as a high school head coach and before that as an assistant at one of the best programs in the state of Kansas. (Maize High School, Coach Jerrod Handy) Post is assisted by veteran Ray Anderson and the team is managed by Cambrey Ballard.<\/p>\n

Outlook:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This team has a lot of new people, and it could take a little time to gel. The team scheduled way up and is playing against 7 larger division NAIA schools to start the season. They begin in Omaha Nebraska on October 29-30 at the College of St. Mary Classic. Next will be the 1st<\/sup> annual Quaker Classic at Friends University. Coach Post and Coach Dean Jaderston, from Friends University, agreed to an annual game between the 2 schools and named it after the common ingredient at both schools\u2026the Quaker Faith. It should be a very exciting series that can help bring the 2 schools together for a rivalry that should bring a lot of excitement. The men\u2019s programs decided to join in on the fun and we look forward to a long-lasting relationship.<\/p>\n

After the Quaker Classic the Lady Bears travel back to Nebraska to play in the Cody Vance Classic at Doane University. The Bears will play against Waldorf College, Peru State, and Doane University. It should be a fun 3 days of basketball at a very nice facility.<\/p>\n

Barclay women will also be playing against Ottawa University on Nov 13 at the Hockett Auditorium. Ottawa is a strong NAIA program playing in the KCAC and it is exciting to have them on campus.<\/p>\n

The last bigger school on the schedule is November 20th<\/sup> when the Lady Bears travel to St. Louis to play at Fontbonne University, an NCAA division 3 college.<\/p>\n
