{"id":9179,"date":"2015-11-04T10:49:41","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T16:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/barclay.college\/cms\/?p=9179"},"modified":"2016-08-06T16:32:39","modified_gmt":"2016-08-06T21:32:39","slug":"bears-soccer-season-comes-to-an-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bears.barclay.college\/bears-soccer-season-comes-to-an-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Bears Soccer Season Comes to an End"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the\u00a0Southwest Region soccer\u00a0tournament this last weekend in Dallas, Barclay faced a Hillsdale Free Will Baptist (Moore, Okla.) team for a\u00a0second time this season. Way back in early Sept. the Bears and the Saints played a 1-1 tie under the lights in Haviland. That game ended just minutes before regulation because of a lightning storm. This time around the Saints proved to be both more skilled and determined.<\/p>\n<p>On a\u00a0cold, windy, rainy day, both teams were forced\u00a0to fight the elements. Hillsdale, however, still seemed to find a way to craftily move the ball around and create scoring opportunities. The Bears back line was unable to keep the relentless attack at bay as the Saints would advance to the region championship against top-seeded Dallas Christian (Dallas) with a 4-0 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomores Ben Preibe (Rose Hill, Kans.) and Justin Calicchia (Montreal, Cananda), as well as\u00a0junior Brenton\u00a0Newby (Wichita, Kans.)\u00a0were all\u00a0named to the Southwest Region First\u00a0Team. The Bears final record was 7-8-2.<\/p>\n<p>With the 2015 season in the books. Head coach Kevin Lee eluded to a well-known saying that &#8220;effort can beat talent when talent is not willing to put in the effort.&#8221;\u00a0Lee spoke in great length about how that saying was\u00a0a hallmark of this years\u00a0team. &#8220;What we collectively lacked in skill and experience, we could make up for with effort.
