The Barclay College women’s volleyball and basketball programs continue to pound the recruiting trail. Earlier this week, Leilani Carrasco from Eaton, Colorado, committed to Barclay College for the 2016-17 school year. Carrasco is a 5’7″ dual sport athlete\u00a0that plans on playing\u00a0both volleyball and basketball at Barclay College.<\/p>\n
At Briggsdale High School, Carrasco participated in volleyball, basketball and track.\u00a0She played the full rotation in volleyball and was a small forward in basketball. In addition, she high jumped, ran the 300m hurdles and was on several relays as part of the track team. For her efforts, she\u00a0earned all-conference honorable mention in both volleyball and basketball as a senior, and was all-state honorable mention in basketball.<\/p>\n
\u201cLeilani is going to be a great fit for our team,” said head coach Larry Lewis. “She loves to compete, desires to improve and wants to honor God with her abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Head women’s basketball coach, Marcus Mitchell, also raved about Carrasco’s skill set, \u201cLeilani offers a lot of versatility for us as she is very athletic, has a high basketball IQ, and can play multiple positions for us. We are grateful she chose to continue her education at Barclay College.\u201d<\/p>\n
Carrasco\u00a0said about Barclay College, \u201cI felt God\u2019s presence in this environment and Barclay College focuses on putting God first.\u00a0 I appreciated how welcoming everyone was on my campus visit.” She plans on pursing a major in nursing.<\/p>\n
