Barclay Splits at Home

Game 1: BC vs OPSU
After starting the season with three straight road games the Bears finally got to have their home opener
Tuesday, November 9 th vs Oklahoma Panhandle State University (NAIA). The last time that BC hosted
OPSU it was 96-91 victory for the Bears.
The first half was rough for the Bears. The size and pressure of the Aggies made it very difficult for
Barclay to find any rhythm. The Bears were held to only 30% shooting from field and also failed to
capitalize on the easy ones as they shot 40% from the charity stripe. This was compounded by OPSU’s
57% shooting from long range. They entered halftime with a 49-33 spread in favor of OPSU.
The second half saw a different story as the Bears shot 47% from the floor and protected the ball better
against the OPSU pressure. After seeing the lead grow to 22 points, the Bears found a spark and stormed
back to within 3 points. A couple missed opportunities by the Bears and a few timely baskets by the
Aggies resulted in a final score of 92-82 in favor of OPSU.

Game 2: BC vs SWAU
Following the OPSU game was a quick turnaround as BC hosted NCCAA and fellow Southwest Region
school Southwest Adventist University. This would be Barclay College’s first NCCAA matchup of the
season.
Barclay started out of the gates slow shooting 1/10 from deep in the first half while giving up 5/11 to
SWAU. It was a back-and-forth battle through the first half with an intermission score of 35-39 in favor
of #TheClayWay.
The second half the Bears came out stronger just as they did in the previous game. They poured in 5
more threes and shot 12/13 from the free-throw line. The Bears would grow the lead in the second half
up to 25 before coasting to a final score of 85-73 for their first win of the season.
This puts BC at 1-0 vs the NCCAA this season, and pushes their NCCAA regular season win streak to 10
in-a-row going back to last year.
