On November 19, the Barclay College Women’s Basketball team faced Central Christian College (McPherson, KS) in their season opener for the 2019-20 season. For the contest, it was a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Tigers were firing on all cylinders as they shot a blistering 58% from behind the arch and forced the Lady Bears into 22 first-half turnovers. Going into halftime, Barclay trailed Central Christian by a score of 50-27. For the 3rd and 4th quarter, the Bears regained some composure and were able to handle the Tigers ball pressure and take better care of the basketball. Barclay outscored Central Christian in the second half (41-37), but they had a hard time getting out of the hole they dug in the first half and were defeated by the score of 84-68. The Bears were led by Senior, Sarah Easterwood (Rolla, KS) 21 points and 5 rebounds and Sophomore, Lydia King 21 points and 9 rebounds.
The Lady Bears will be back in action after Thanksgiving Break. They will travel to Manhattan, KS to face Manhattan Christian College to open up conference play on December 3.
