Men’s Basketball Extends Helping Hands in CO

Over the weekend, members of the Barclay College men’s basketball team took part in a service project and some team building at Quaker Ridge Camp near Woodland Park, Colo. Seniors Cole Hibler (Ponca City, Okla.) and Tanner Huck (Coldwater, Kans.), juniors Kenny Arnold (Lawton, Okla.) and Petronio Sanfiel (Kissimmee, Fla.), and freshmen Randell Smith (Haynesville, La.) and David Nosach (Sacramento, Calif.) accompanied coaches Royce Bryan and Josiah Williams on the venture west.

The group assisted the QRC maintenance staff for three consecutive days, primarily helping winterize their facilities. A bulk of their time was spent knocking down, gathering, chopping, splitting and stacking lumber for the quickly approaching winter season. In addition, the team was provided down time to come together as as team and build tighter bonds with one another. They hiked the infamous Soldier Mountain and participated in a variety of other competitions.

“Its just an incredible opportunity for us,” said head coach Bryan. “You walk away from that experience with a fresh outlook. You feel like you helped the Kingdom of God in some tangible way, you build much deeper relationships with coaches and players, and, most importantly, you encounter God.”
