Camp, Vanderploeg Hit Stride at Bethel Invitational
It was a beautiful brisk morning this past Saturday at the Bethel College Cross Country Invitational in Newton, Kans. After two hard weeks of practice, sophomore Noah Camp (Winfield, Kans.) and junior Katy Vanderploeg (Haviland, Kans.) were ready to attack the course, and that they did.
Incredibly, both runners bested their goals for the day by half a minute. Vanderploeg gained a new personal best with a 29:27 in the women’s 5k. Her 8th place finish, out of 20 runners earned a t-shirt for being in the top 10. Camp, on the other hand, continues to close in on his own personal record. He has improved his time by over 40 seconds since the first meet of the season. He finished 9th place out of 25 runners with a 29:30 in the 8k.
Head coach Whitney Kregar and assistant coach Katelyn Ogle continue to rave about Camp and Vanderploeg’s effort this season and credit their hard work for the many successes they are experiencing in competition.
One final regular season meet stands between the team and nationals. They will head to Southwestern College (Winfield, Kans.) on Saturday, October 22nd for their final tune up.
