Soccer Finds New Coaches in Miranda-Troup, Ogle

After the dust settled from the conclusion of the spring semester in early May, former head soccer coach Kevin Lee informed the administration of Barclay College of his resignation effective at the end of the month. Under Lee’s tutelage, the Bears soccer program thrust onto the national scene with an incredible run in 2014, which ended with a top five ranking.

Filling Lee’s shoes will be no easy task, but former Barclay College players and teammates Pilo Miranda-Troup and Austin Ogle are throwing themselves at the challenge. The two were key players in turning around the program from 2010-2013. By the time they were seniors, the two team captains led the Bears to a first place finish in the Midwest Christian College Conference. In the process, both players earned MCCC and NCCAA division II Southwest Region recognition for their stellar performance on the pitch.

“We are super excited that we have two young men willing to take on the task of discipling others, just as they were,” said Athletic Director Royce Bryan. “I’m just so proud of these guys and so privileged to have gotten to live life with them both during their time as student-atheltes at BC. I truly believe they are what the program needs right now.”

Both Miranda-Troup and Ogle have stepped directly into coaching following graduation from BC. Miranda-Troup has been the head coach for U14 and U15 girls soccer in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado from 2014-16 and U11, U12  and U16 boys club assistant coach in 2016. In addition, over that same time span, he has been the assistant basketball coach at Two Roads Middle school and high school. Ogle, on the other hand, served as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Barclay College in 2015-16 and helped the Bears to their second first place finish in the MCCC in the last six years. Both guys have their US Soccer Federation National F license and are currently in the process of obtaining their E license.

Their coaching philosophy is centered around ministry and an the opportunity to develop close relationships with their players. They desire that all their players would grow spirituality and become leaders both on and off the field in order to impact the world around them.

Miranda-Troup is married to Meghan (2012) and Ogle is married to Katelyn (2013). Both families reside in Haviland.
