Bears Soccer Improves to 9-1

On Tuesday, October 7 the Barclay College soccer team traveled to Moore, OK to take on NCCAA Division II Southwest Region rival Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College.  Although the Bears had beaten the Saints 3-0 in Haviland nearly a month ago, they knew this would be another tough test.

After a scoreless first half, Freshman Josh Moore (Houston, TX)  was able to connect off of a corner kick served into the box from Freshman Julio Cobo (Katy, TX).  Then, later in the half, the Bears built their lead to 2-0 when Junior leading scorer Kingsley Assibey (Accra, Ghana) was on the assisting side of a goal this time around. He placed an incredible ball to a charging Cobo, who made a perfectly timed break and then directed it into the corner of the goal. The 2-0 victory marked the first time the Bears had swept Hillsdale in over five years.

BC will next face NAIA Robert Morris University in Springfield, Illinois. Game time is set for 7:00 PM CST on Friday, October 10th. The following day they will attempt to go undefeated in Midwest Christian College Conference play and finish off their regular season schedule on a good note with a match against St. Louis Christian College (Florissant, MO).
