Soccer splits in Labor Day Matchups

Labor Day weekend started Friday for the Bear’s Men’s Soccer team in an 11:00am kickoff in Haviland against NAIA opponent Hesston. Battling the Larks and the heat Barclay fought in a back-and-forth battle to the end of the first half with the score stuck at 0-0. Two quick goals at the beginning of the second half by the Larks gave Hesston a 2-0 lead which they held until the final whistle.

A quick turnaround for the Bears yielded much different results. Playing against NCCAA regional opponent Union Adventist on Labor Day the Bears came out hot and stayed hot. A match that ended with an 11-0 victory for the Bears had the scoring start in the second minute with a goal by Danielberg Tavares. This was quickly followed in the seventh minute with a goal by Kieran May, who tallied two more to score a hattrick on the day. Goals were also scored by Matheus Lepera Moraes, Eduardo Amaro, Joào Bragança Coutinho, Ignacio Zuñiga, Will Guerra, Mateo de la Rosa, and Moses Kanyeba in the high scoring affair.

The Bears improved to 2-2-1 after the weekend and will look to keep things going this Friday with a trip to Iowa to play Faith Baptist and Emmaus University back-to-back days.
