Bears Soccer Shut Out Against Crusaders

Haviland, KS – The Crusaders of Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS) lived up to their NCCAA Division II #3 ranking on Tuesday. The MCCC match was not played in ideal weather conditions, but definitely not unusual for southwest Kansas. Even with the extremely windy conditions, gusts as high as 40 miles per hour, the Crusaders won 6-0.

Within in the first ten minutes of the game, the Crusaders scored on a header and never looked back. With a stingy Manhattan defense limiting the Barclay offensive attack, they built a 3-0 halftime lead. Even though Freshman forward Eduardo Salazar (Huntsville, TX) was able to find the back of the net five times last week and assist on an additional three goals, the Crusader defense was swarming and kept him under wraps for most of the game. The 6-0 defeat ended the Bears three game winning streak and dropped them to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in MCCC play.

Bears Soccer will be back at it in Haviland under the lights this coming Friday, September 14th at 7:00 PM CST against Dallas Christian College (Dallas, TX) and then again on Saturday, September 15th at home against Calvary Bible College (Kansas City, MO) at 2:00 PM.
