Bears Split Road MCCC Tri

Friday evening the Lady Bears volleyball team took to the road for their first two Midwest Christian College Conference matches. Ozark Christian College (Joplin, Mo.) hosted a triangular that also included Calvary Bible College (Belton, Mo.).

First, the Bears took on the Warriors of Calvary Bible. Traditionally the Bears and the Warriors have been very evenly matched and this year proved no differently. In the first set, the Bears won 29-27 in yet another epic battle. However, instead of having a let down in set two or three, the Bears were able to squeak out a straight set victory by winning the second set 25-20 and the third set 25-23.

Shortly after their victory over Calvary, the Bears had to take on perennial powerhouse, Ozark Christian, in their own gym. In the opening set, the Bears played some of their best volleyball of this young season. The Ambassadors were unable to shake them for most of the match, but still snuck out a 25-22 win. Unfortunately, the Bears could not maintain the caliber of play they displayed in their opening set with the Ambassadors and dropped the second set 11-25 and the third set 12-25.

Next the Bears (1-2, 1-1) will travel to Manhattan, Kan. to take on Manhattan Christian and York College in a triangular on Tuesday.
