Hillsdale Out-Duels Bears Volleyball

Haviland, KS – The Saints from Hillsdale Freewill Baptist College (Moore, OK) came to Hockett Auditorium with something to prove. Both of last year’s volleyball matches with the Saints went to five sets. However, the Bears came out flat this time around and were unable to come out on top, losing in straight sets.

In this NCCAA Southwest Region match-up, the Bears found themselves playing mostly defenses and unable to recover from early holes in the first two sets, losing 15-25 and 12-25. In the third set, they made some adjustments and were able to dig deep to give themselves an opportunity to win the third before falling short, 22-25. The Bears were led by Jr. Sarah Sullivan (San Antonio, TX) with 7 kills and 5 kills by So. Megan Eby (Arlington, WA). Setter So. Kalyn Switzer (Weatherford, OK) had 18 assits while Fr. Courtney Gillaspy (Medina, TX) had 91% of her passes on target and Lauren Wells (Halstead, KS) chipped in 13 digs.

Next up for the Bears is a triangular in Kansas City, MO at Calvary Bible College. They will play host Calvary at 10:00 AM CST and Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, IA) at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th.
