Lady Bears Continue to Improve

The Barclay College Lady Bears traveled to Moberly, MO on Saturday afternoon to square off against MCCC opponent Central Christian College of the Bible.

The game started off well for both teams as the score remained tight for the first 15 minutes. The last 5 minutes saw the Lady Saints take advantage of the Bears youth and missed opportunities to take a 15 point lead into the halftime, 38-23.

The second half began much differently. The Lady Bears came out strong and shot the ball with confidence. With 5 minutes left in the game, Barclay had cut the lead to 55-54. From there the game see-sawed back and forth and ultimately the Lady Saints held on to win 64-57.

Brooke White continued her string of strong performances with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Raelyn Epp chipped in 13 points and Sarah Sullivan and Mercedeez Bell each had 10 points.

Head Coach Brad Lingafelter concluded, “I hope that 2nd half is a sign of what we can expect from here on out. At halftime I told the girls the rest of this season will be determined by two things. One is how hard they want to work. Two, our mental toughness needs to improve. Everyone misses shots, everyone throws the ball away. But we have to stop hanging our heads and keep playing. I thought the second half was the best we have done that this year.”

The Lady Bears will host Hillsdale Free Will Baptist on Tuesday, January 28th at 5:00 PM CST.
