Mens Soccer Pushes Win Streak to 4

The Barclay College men’s soccer team improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Midwest Christian College Conference (MCCC) play after a dominate performance on Saturday afternoon against Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, Mo.). On the backs of junior Jared Werstler (Uniontown, Ohio) and freshman Garrett Zuercher’s (Newton, Kans.) four goals, the Bears walked away with a 6-0 victory.

Saturday’s win also improved the Bears win streak to four games. On Sept. 9 the Bears made the long trek to Lincoln, Ill. to take on Lincoln Christian. After trailing most of the game, the Bears completed the comeback for a 4-3 road win. Then on Sept. 16-17, Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa) hosted the Bears for a pair of games. That Friday, they narrowly escaped Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, Iowa) 1-0 and then replicated that score Saturday afternoon against host Faith.

The current win streak has kept the Bears hopes of an MCCC regular season championship alive. They sit one game out of first place with a huge match-up with Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, Kans.) on Tuesday, Oct. 4 looming in the near future. Up next, however, is the annual alumni game. That game is schedule for 7:30pm on Friday, Sept. 30.
