Saints Pull Away from Lady Bears Late
In their last game before Thanksgiving break, the Lady Bears welcomed #3 Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (Moore, OK) to Haviland Tuesday night. It was a NCCAA Division II Southwest Region game for the Bears.
Three point shooting sparked the Lady Bears in the opening minutes of the game as they connected on their first three attempts. Because of their sharp shooting, they were able to keep the high powered Saints at bay. A few untimely turnovers helped the Saints get on track with easy transition points, but the Lady Bears 7-9 shooting from long range helped them keep the game close. At half, the Lady Bears trailed 30-41.
For the first ten minutes of the second half, the margin stayed around ten points. The Lady Bears connected on another four three pointers during that span and cut the lead to seven multiple times, before they ran out of steam. The Saints ended the game on a huge run to win 76-50.
The Lady Bears were led by Seniors Morgan Stander (Omaha, NE) and Kaylee Kershner (Great Bend, KS) with 15 and 14 points. In addition, Freshman Brittany McDowell (Fowler, KS) pulled down seven boards and dished out 5 assists.
After heading home for Thanksgiving, the Bear will return and then play Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS) at 5:00 PM CST on Tuesday, December 1st. It will be the Bears second and final Midwest Christian College Conference match this semester.
