Seven Bears Earn All-Conference Honors

Last weekend, the Barclay College Bears soccer and volleyball teams were well represented in the Midwest Christian College Conference. At the MCCC Tournament’s in Ankeny, IA for soccer and Belton, MO for volleyball, six soccer players and one volleyball player were recognized for the exceptional play during the regular season.

The Barclay College Men’s Soccer team roared to a first place tie in conference play with a 5-1 record thanks to the play of Freshman midfielder Melvin Lara who was named the MCCC’s Most Valuable Player. Accompanying him on the first team was Senior goalkeeper Austin Ogle, Sophomore Kinglsey Assibey, and Freshman defender Pedro Chavez. Senior Pilo Miranda-Troup and Freshman Eli Dahir were named to the second team.

On the volleyball side, the Bears finished in fifth place in conference. Senior Sarah Sullivan was named to the second team for the second year in a row as she she has been a top hitter in the country for most of the season.
