Tough Road Win for BC Soccer

Barclay College soccer was in Dallas, Texas on Friday evening to face another tough NCCAA Division II Southwest Region opponent in Dallas Christian College. The Bears were looking to push their overall record to 5-1 and stay unbeaten in region matches.

On a hot, Texas evening, the Crusaders of Dallas Christian used their speed up front to strike first midway through the first half. Even though the Bears found themselves behind 1-0, they weren’t rattled. They have managed to come from behind to win three of their last four matches, and this one was no different. In the second half, the Bears finally got into sync, winning 50/50 balls and holding possession. Eventually, a hustling Senior Joshua Sanchez cleaned up a shot attempt by Freshman Pedro Chavez to tie the game  up in the second half. Then, in the 80th minute Sophomore Kingsley Assibey broke through the back line of the Crusader defense for a one-on-one with the keeper, but were whistled for a foul in the box. Assibey routinely knocked in the penalty kick to seal the victory for the Bears, 2-1.

Ozark Christian College (Joplin, MO) is next up for the Bears. They will be in town on Friday , September 20th at 6:30 to take on the Bears under the lights. The match is both an MCCC and Southwest Region match.
