VB & SC Players Earn NCCAA Recognition

At the conclusion of the 2013 NCCAA Division II Fall Championship season, Barclay College received word that four of its student-athletes received national recognition for their work this season.

First, Sophomore Kingsley Assibey from Ghana Africa was selected as a 2nd Team All-American.  Assibey finished this season with 24 goals and 5 assists which placed him among the top three point earners in the nation for division II. His ability to maintain a one-goal-per-game average created havoc for opposing defenses this season as he helped lead the Bears to a 13-5 record.

On the volleyball side, Senior Sarah Sullivan from San Antonio, TX earned Honorable Mention All-American. As a senior she totaled over 175 kills with near a 3.0 kill average while also being named to the Southwest Region First Team. Sullivan’s significant contributions this year, in addition to her four year career at Barclay College, helped earn her this special recognition.

Senior Hannah Williams from Haviland, KS and Junior Morgan Stander from Omaha, NE were also recognized for their achievements in the classroom as they were both named 2013 Scholar Athletes. To garner this recognition, student-athletes must be a junior or senior and maintain a cumulative GPA at or above a 3.5 on 4.0 scale.

“This is much deserved recognition for our student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Royce Bryan. “I am just very proud of these young men and women for the extra commitment and effort they put in in order to help their respective teams strive for excellence and I want to say thank you on behalf of the Barclay College community for all they have done for their teams, the BC Athletic Department, and the community.”
