Bears Hang Tough on the Road

On Tuesday, Dec. 3rd the Bears played their second Midwest Christian College Conference game. This time they were on the road at Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS). The early part of the schedule has been extremely tough for the Bears, playing against NCAA Division II and NAIA Division I and II schools for more than half of their games.

The Bears jumped out to an early 7-2 lead thanks to some hot shooting. After causing an early timeout by the Crusaders, the depth and senior leadership of Manhattan Christian allowed them to make a late rally to take a six point lead into the locker room at the half. In the second half, the Bears went through one stretch where they went cold from the field and the Crusaders took full advantage of it. They maintained a double digit lead for remainder of the game as the Bears fell 64-74.

“Its never fun to lose, but it was another step in the right direction for us,” said Head Coach Royce Bryan. “Its encouraging to know that when we play with maximum effort and play as one unit, we can play with some of the best teams at our level.”

The Bears travel to Oklahoma Wesleyan (Bartlesville, OK) for the last game before Christmas break. Game time is set for 7:00 PM CST.
