2011-12 Mens Basketball Accolades

On Sunday, April 1st the Barclay College Bears athletics department honored its athletes with their annual Athletic Celebration. Among the festivities, the men’s basketball team announced its Midwest Christian College Conference (MCCC), Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA), as well as team award winners.

Both freshman Charles Brodhead (Lompoc, CA) and freshman Brandon Howarth (Dodge City, KS) received MCCC accolades. Howarth made Honorable Mention all-conference after averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds a game. Brodhead’s 23 points and and 8 rebounds a game, on the other hand, earned him all-conference first-team. The two also were ACCA award winners. Brodhead was first team All-American. Howarth was second team All-American.

The Barclay Bears team finished the year 13-16 overall, 6-6 in conference play, and a 4th place finish at the ACCA national tournament. They set records for most three points attempted (571)and made in a season (180), most free throws attempted (635) and made in a season (412), and most rebounds in a season (1184).

Three team awards were dished out. Senior Patric Garrison (Eldora, IA) received the Most Improved Award, sophomore Austin Ogle (Hutchinson, KS) received the Hustle Award, and Brodhead received the Most Valuable Player Award.
