Alabama Athlete First to Commit to Lady Bears
The first commit for the Barclay Lady Bears basketball program comes from the state of Alabama. Brooke White from East Lawrence High School in Hillsboro, Alabama, is a guard/forward who should step in and help right away next year. “Brooke is very versatile, with good fundamentals and a high basketball IQ,” stated Coach Lingafelter. “She is going to be a young lady who will be able to be plugged into many different spots. She is long, has good ball-handling skills, is a solid shooter, and has played both guard and center in her career. Plus, her faith and her desires for herself outside of basketball are a very good fit for Barclay College.” White averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals her senior year at East Lawrence. At the 4A level in Alabama, East Lawrence won their All-Area Tournament three of her four years there, and she was named to the All-Area Tournament Team twice during that span. White has ranked in the top 10 for her class all 4 years, and was involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Club. Brooke’s parents are mother Benetta White and stepfather Jimmy Petty.
