Bears Men’s Basketball Sweep Weekend Games

Haviland, KS – The Bears Men’s Basketball Team took a perfect 4-0 record into their weekend games with Grace University and Dallas Christian and were able to hold off the competition.

On Friday, Nov. 30th the Royals of Grace opened the game up aggressively on the boards to build an early lead before the Bears started rolling on all cylinders. By the half the Bears led 43-29. In the second half, the Bears jumped out quickly with tactful interior passing and despite the Royals shooting 39-54 from the foul line, were able to win 84-72. Senior Toney Hatton led the Bears with 22 points on 10-15 shooting while Sophomore Charles Brodhead added 20 points and 8 rebounds.

Saturday evening the Bears found themselves down 10-0 to start the game before they heated up from long range (6-10) to take a half time lead 51-37. The Bears coasted to a victory in the second half, leading by as many as 28 and winning 103-89. Once again Brodhead and Hatton led the way. Brodhead scored 24 points including 4-5 on three pointers, Hatton went for 20 points while Freshman Caleb Stagner-Hundley secured 13 rebounds on the night.

The Bears improved to 6-0 on the season and will travel to Springfield, MO on Friday to play Central Bible College at 7:00 PM CST and then Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 4:00 PM CST on Saturday.
