Bears Volleyball Takes Set From NAIA SCU

Haviland, KS – Coming off a tough weekend, Barclay College Bears Volleyball was looking to get back on track with an upset over NAIA Southwestern Christian College (Bethany, OK). 

The Eagles of Southwestern Christian were able to overcome a shaky first few points and run away with the first set 25-14, but the Bears stormed back in the second set 25-15. In the pivotal third set, the Eagles reestablished themselves with strong serving and hitting to win 25-12. It was back and forth action in the fourth set before the Eagles created a gap late in the set to win 25-20. 

Defensively leading the way for the Bears was libero Sophomore Dani Gressel (South Haven, KS) with 12 digs. Offensively, Junior Sarah Sullivan (San Antonio, TX) had 15 kills and Sophomore Megan Eby (Arlington, WA) had three aces. 

This weekend the Bears (3-7, 1-3) travel to Ankeny, IA on Friday, September 21st for an MCCC match against Faith Baptist Bible College at 7:00 PM CST.
