Brodhead Receives NCCAA Recognition

Every Monday afternoon the NCCAA names a Student-Athlete of the Week. This last week Barclay College’s senior Charles Brodhead (Lompoc, Calif.) was the SAW winner for the week beginning Nov. 23. It is the second time Brodhead has received this recognition in his time at Barclay College.

In the Bears only game of the week, Barclay College took on #1 ranked Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (Moore, Okla.) at Hockett Auditorium before heading home for Thanksgiving. It was a Saints team that had beat the Bears their previous five meetings and was off to a fast start this season to earn the #1 ranking.

Coming into the game, Brodhead had been averaging 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals over their first six games of this year’s campaign. That night, however, Brodhead contributed even more than his averages. He made timely buckets and steals throughout the course of the game while piling up 33 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists.  In addition, Brodhead closed the game out going 4 for 4 from the free throw line to help the Bears improve to 2-0 against NCCAA Division II colleges this season.
