Barclay College Goalkeeper, Freshman David Hernandez (Atascadero, CA), was awarded the Division II Soccer Student Athlete of the Week on September 30th. Hernandez was nominated and chosen because of his Christian ideals he exemplified both on and off the field from the preceding week.

On the field, Hernandez led the Bears to two shutout victories in Haviland, KS. On Friday, Sept. 26th the Bears handily beat Midwest Christian College Conference opponent Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) 7-0. In the victory Hernandez recorded two saves. Then on Saturday night, NAIA Southwestern College (Winfield, KS) was defeated 2-0 by the Bears. In the win over Southwestern, Hernandez posted an additional 6 saves as the Bears played the final 55 minutes of the game a man down.
