Men’s Basketball Signs CA Recruit

Jared Hays, a 6’1” guard from Hesperia Christian School (Hesperia, Calif.), committed to attending Barclay College and competing for the men’s basketball team this coming fall.

Hays is a proven all-around athlete. He was an All-California Interscholastic Federation Division 6 selection in basketball and football as as senior while leading Hesperia Christian to a runner-up finish in the Division 6 Southern Section Finals in basketball. In addition, he collected two Most Valuable Player awards in the Agape League as a junior and senior as well as a league championship this past season. In his final two years of high school, he also experienced a lot of success running on the cross country team.

“I think Jared has a very bright future both on and off the court. He is just a solid young man,” said head coach Royce Bryan. “As a basketball player specifically, he does all the little things a coach loves. He sees the court really well, defends well, and he doesn’t care if he gets any credit as long as the team wins. I think it will be hard to keep him off the court, even as a freshman.”

Hays is planning on majoring in elementary education.
