Bears Land Promising Transfer
On June 29th the Barclay College men’s basketball team received word that transfer student Quinton Walker had chosen to attend Barclay starting this fall. Walker, a 6’2″ shooting guard, is a 2013 graduate of Roxton High School (Texas).
Walker was pivotal in the success of Roxton High School’s boy’s basketball team. As a senior, he helped lead the Lions all the way to a 1A state championship while being named to the Texas 1A All-State 1st Team that same year. In addition, he was named to the Texas 1A All-State 1st Team as a junior when the Lions finished as the class 1A state runner-up.
After a brief stint at Cedar Valley Community College (Texas), Walker was drawn to the community of Haviland and looks forward to representing the Bears both on and off the court. He aims to major in Business while at BC with hopes of being a high school basketball coach some day.
“We are incredibly fortunate that Quinton chose to attend BC,” said head coach Royce Bryan. “He is a very respectful young man and we look forward to seeing his development as a man in all phases of life. God has given him a great talent and it will be exciting to work with Quinton and to see how that talent is showcased for the glory of God.”
