NCCAA Names Brodhead Student Athlete of the Week

For his efforts during the Midwest Christian College Conference tournament held in Haviland, Kan. last week, the National Christian College Athletic Association named junior Charles Brodhead (Lompoc, Calif.) as the division two student athlete of the week.

In wins over Calvary Bible College (Belton, Mo.) and Ozark Christian College (Joplin, Mo.) in the quarterfinals and semifinals and then a loss in the championship to Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa), Brodhead averaged 24.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 7 assists. In the semifinal match-up with Ozark, Brodhead had 24 points, 10 rebounds and came two assists away from a triple double to lead the Bears to a 92-86 win that propelled the Bears into the championship game. Even though he went for 28 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in the championship game against Faith on Saturday, the Bears had to settle for the runner-up plaque.

On Thursday, the Bears will attempt to prolong their season with another win against Ozark Christian in the opening rounds of the Southwest Region tournament in Arlington, Texas.
