New Season Begins For Lady Bears Basketball

HAVILAND, KS – The Barclay College Lady Bears hosted their first home game of the 2012-13 season on Tuesday, November 13th against the Eagles of Rhema Bible Training College (Tulsa, OK). The Eagles enter this season fresh off another ACCA National Championship in 2012.

With only two ladies in action from last year’s squad, Junior Sarah Sullivan (San Antonio, TX) and Morgan Stander (Elmwood, NE) the Lady Bears came out with a lot of energy. Midway through the first half the Eagles full court pressure began to take its toll, forcing 27 turnovers by the break, leaving the Lady Bears down by 18 at the half.

Coming out of the second half the Lady Bears never backed down from the Lady Eagles, only getting outscored by 4 points the second half, with the final score being 69-47. For the game, Barclay out rebounded Rhema  by 12 boards (58-46). Barclay College was led by Freshman Shandy Edenborough’s (Goodwell, OK) double-double with 16 rebounds and 11 points. Freshman RaeLyn Epp (Weatherford, OK) contributed 14 points and Sullivan with 9.

Next up, the Bears will be traveling to Omaha, NE to face Grace University on Friday, November 16th at 5:30 PM CST. On Saturday, November 17th they will face Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, IA) at 1:00 PM CST for their first MCCC game.
