Ogle, Lara Earn Student Athlete of the Week

Earlier in the week, the NCCAA honored two members of the Barclay College Men’s Soccer team, Senior Austin Ogle and Freshman Melvin Lara, by selecting them as student-athletes of the week for their achievements during the week of September 23, 2013. During the week, the Bears defeated then #7 Ozark Christian College 3-2 in a thriller under the lights in Haviland, KS.

Ogle was named the defensive player of the week. In the Ozark game he piled up 11 saves, including eliminating three 1 v. 1 situations, to help the Bears preserve the upset. His current goals against average is 1.48% with 46 total saves on the season, and one shutout.

Lara, on the other hand, was named the offensive player of the week as he scored two goals and added one assist in a span of three minutes and eighteen seconds to lead the Bears to a come-from-behind win to upset the Ambassadors. Lara has six goals on the season.

The Bears are 6-1 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in MCCC play. They are back in action this Saturday at 2:00 PM CST against St. Louis Christian College (Florissant, MO).
