Season of Streaks for BC Soccer

Florissant, MO – Barclay College Soccer has had its ups and downs so far in 2012. They started the season off on fire, winning four of their first five, only to lose five in a row, and then this past weekend the Bears started another streak; a two game winning streak.

For the first time in several games, the Bears were back at full strength. Senior Rusty Eadie (Manton, MI) said, “It felt good to turn around and play with most of the guys back on the team to remind us what we are made of.”

On Friday afternoon, the Bears were in Springfield, MO for a contest against Central Bible College. Forward Freshman Eduardo Salazar (Huntsville, TX) added two more goals to his goal count for the season which is up to nine, including the game winner in the second half. Freshman Kingsley Assibey (Accra, Ghana) also scored, while Senior Sammy Sanders (Haviland, KS) and Freshman Mauro Villanueva (Lyons, KS) assisted as the Bears won 3-2.

The Bears went into their MCCC road match with St. Louis Christian on Saturday afternoon with a little added momentum from Friday. Fresh off an injury, Eadie scored twice and also had an assist, while Senior Joshua Sanchez (Magee, MS) and Villanueva found the back of the net as well to lead the Bears to a 4-2 victory and their second MCCC win of the season. Salazar and Assibey each had an assist to boot.

The Bears (6-5, 2-3) are back in action Saturday, September 29th in a rematch against Dallas Christian College (Dallas, TX) at 1:00 PM CST. Dallas Christian beat the Bears 3-1 earlier in the season.
