BC Cross Country Up and Running

Following the 2011 inaugural cross country season at Barclay College, it was thought to be in the best interest of the college and the cross country program to utilize the 2012-13 academic school year to focus on recruiting in order to build a solid foundation for the program. To lead the way, Wendy Williams has agreed to take the reins from Ryan Kendall and continue to grow the program.

Williams said, “First, I want to say thank you to Ryan (Kendall) for his work and effort starting the program. We only hope to build on the foundation he set.”

Williams is originally from Rock Springs, Wyoming and ran cross country at NCAA Division II Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D. While there she was a 7 time All-American. By the time she was a senior in 2010 at Black Hills State she had left her mark on the school and the cross country program. In that year alone she was a Cross Country All-American, 5k Outdoor All-American, 10k Outdoor All-American, and the National Outdoor Marathon Winner, which she won in 2009 as well.

Academically, Williams graduated in 2010 with a degree in special education and a minor in exercise science and coaching.

“My philosophy will center on taking them (cross country team) through Romans 5:3. I hope they would be able to find joy in their sufferings and develop perseverance not only in their running but more importantly in their walk(s) with the Lord,” said Williams.

Williams is married to Barclay College graduate Jeremiah Williams and they have an 8 month old daughter, Abigail. They are the current Men’s Resident Directors.
