Bears Earn First MCCC Win

Friday night the Bears found themselves in Belton, MO for the first of two road MCCC games. Calvary Bible College was no push over on their home court as the Bears eyed their first MCCC win.

Even though the Bears were on the scoreboard first, the Warriors took control of the game taking a nine-point lead into the halftime. Freshman David Lewis was the lone Bear to play well offensively to keep the Bears within striking distance. In the opening two minutes of the second half, Calvary pushed their lead to as many as 14 points before the Bears made their push. A three in the corner by Junior Tommy Leach and an and-one by Freshman Tanner Huck, turned the tide of the game. Near the half way point of the second half, the Bears took the lead for good and never looked back as they cruised to an 84-71 MCCC road win.

Leach scored 19 of his 21 points in he second half to lead the way while Huck and Freshman Caleb Davis chipped in 18 and 15 respectively.

Saturday afternoon the Bears traveled south to Ozark Christian College (Joplin, MO) for their second game of the weekend and failed to match the Ambassadors intensity. Their full-court pressure limited the Bears to 26% shooting while put on a shooting clinic on their own end. Ozark finished the game shooting 57%, including 58% (14-22) from three point range.

Davis led the Bears in scoring with 16 points, Huck had 15, and Senior Austin Ogle added 14 points.

The Bears head to St. Louis Christian (Florissant, MO) this coming Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 PM CST. Then on Saturday at 4:00  PM they take on Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO.
