Bears Volleyball Ends Road Trip on Good Note

Last weekend the Lady Bears hit the road for four games in two days. The first destination was Joplin, MO to play NCCAA Southwest Region rivals Arlington Baptist and Ozark Christian College. Then on Saturday they traveled to Belton, MO for a triangular with Calvary Bible College and Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, IA).

First off on Friday evening, the Bears struggled against the height of Arlington’s front court, but found themselves able to attack and penetrate the Patriots defense with 19 kills collectively as a team. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to fight off the Patriots as they won in straight sets, 18-25, 17-25, and 21-25. The Bears then faced nationally ranked Ozark Christian, losing in straight sets again, 11-25, 15-25, 15-25.

On Saturday the Bears traveled north to take on Calvary Bible College and Emmaus Bible College. The first match was against the Warriors of Calvary Bible College. The Bears came out slow in the first set, losing quickly 14-25. The second set was a different story with long rallies and hard fought plays from both sides. The Bears found themselves coming out on top 29-27. They would carry that momentum into the third set to win 25-21 and take a two sets to one lead. The Warriors, however, would respond and come back to win the last two sets 22-25 and 11-15.

After their tough loss to the Calvary Bible, the Bears had to muster up more energy to finish out the forth match in less then twenty-four hours. The Eagles of Emmaus Bible College were up next and the match was filled with runs by both teams, but the Bears offensive proved too much for the Eagles as they won in straight sets, 25-23, 25-23, and 25-20.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday against Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College @ 6:00 PM CST in Moore, OK.
