Lady Bears Come Away Third in MCCC Tournament

The Lady Bears post-season play began this weekend at the MCCC Tournament held in Joplin, MO.

Thursday night, the Lady Bears kicked off the tournament with a 61-40 win against the Ozark Ambassadors. This was the third time this season the Lady Bears were matched up against the Lady Ambassadors and they knew coming out with intense defense was a must in order to maintain control of the game.

Friday, the Lady Bears had to face nationally ranked Central Christian Bible College. The Barclay women’s team managed to stick with the Saints, playing virtually even with them through the first half and into the second before the Saints had an eight minute stretch where they took control of the game to win 67-48.

Saturday the Lady Bears found themselves competing against Faith Bible College for third place. In the first half, the Lady Bears allowed the Lady Eagles to stick around. After kicking up their defensive efforts in the second half the Lady Bears were able to put away the Eagles 52-34 and come home with the third place title.

Coach Brad Lingafelter concluded, “The girls played really well this weekend. Defensively we caused a lot of problems in all three games and offensively, it was the best we have looked this year.”

Next action for the Lady Bears will be at the NCCAA Southwest Regional Tournament hosted in Joplin, MO where they will face Ozark Christian on Thursday at 6:00PM CST.
