Local Soccer Talent Newby, Babock Sign with BC

In the last week, the Bears Soccer program continues to add to its recruiting list for the 2014 season. Landon Babock from Goddard, KS and Brenton Newby from Wichita, KS both signed letters of intent to compete for the Bears this coming Fall.

Babock, son of Patrick and Mary Ellen Babcock, was a varsity goalie for Goddard High School. He was chosen as a First Team Ark Valley-Chisolm Trail League player his junior year, and was voted Honorable Mention his senior year. Barclay College Assistant Coach Steve Davis has had the rare opportunity to coach Babock both at the local YMCA and as a member of the Wichita Lightning Club Soccer team.

Head Coach Kevin Lee stated, “Landon is technically sound, athletic, and he is hungry to be one of the best in the game. We will enjoy all that he brings to the program.”

Newby, son of Sara Newby, was a varsity midfielder for Word of Life Preparatory Academy (Wichita, KS)  in 2012. He was voted MVP and an All-American his senior year after leading his team to a national championship the same year.  In 2013-14, Newby was granted a medical redshirt at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, KS.

“Praise God! Brenton is now injury free,” said Lee. “(He) is ready to once again be a part of a team that is on a mission to become champions.”
