San Antonio Basketball Recruit Chooses Bears

Late last week Joe Luis Aguilar Jr. of Memorial High School in San Antonio, TX committed to attending Barclay College in the fall and playing basketball for the Bears.

As a Senior at MHS, Aguilar averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game in leading the Minuteman to their second playoff appearance in 48 years. In the process, Aguilar earned class 4A All District 1st Team honors in District 29. He was also named to the Edgewood Invitational All-Tournament team as a senior. As a junior he was 2nd Team All District, and was Honorable Mention All District as a sophomore.

“Joe will have a great opportunity to step in and contribute right away because of his work ethic and his court awareness. At 6’2″ he will give us more size on the perimeter which is something we lacked severely last year”, said Head Coach Royce Bryan.  “Most importantly, however, Joe seems to be a man of high character and we look forward to working with him during his time in Haviland.”

Aguilar is undecided on his major and his mother is Elizabeth Cortinas.
