Sophomore midfielder Melvin Lara (Katy, TX) was the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II Student Athlete of the Week for the week of October 19-25. Lara was coming off a weekend in which he helped the lead the Bears to their first Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament championship in 15 years.

During the MCCC Tournament Lara was monumental in controlling the midfield and helping the Bears out-posses their three tournament opponents: St. Louis Christian College (Florissant, MO), Ozark Christian College (Joplin, MO) and Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS). Overall, he scored a goal in each of his three tournament games and also had an assist. On Friday, he was named All-Conference First Team.
